Medico-Legal Reports

I will provide written and verbal expert opinion as appropriate on areas within my expertise. I will not provide an opinion on areas outside of my expertise. My area of expertise is clinical psychology and psychological injury and its treatment.

Examination of the client will take place within a reasonable period after receipt of a letter of instruction, usually within 3 weeks.

Unless otherwise agreed a written report covering the issues to be addressed, my examination of the facts and my opinion, will be delivered within a reasonable time, usually within three weeks after examination. A Notification of Fees will be delivered with the report or supplementary report or joint expert report or other piece of work. This may not represent the total fee that will be due in this case on its completion.

A psychological report based upon an examination of the client, investigation of psychological functioning; examination of available medical notes and records will cost £695. If the case is unusually complex or the notes and records excessively long an individual price for that specific report may be negotiated. Supplementary reports, letters or comments, examination of medical notes and records or other documentation not available at the time of examination of the client and viewing of any video or visual material or other related duties or activities will be costed at the hourly rate of £175 per hour. Attendance at conference or other activity related to the case attracts the hourly rate of £175/hour.

Preparation of a joint expert report attracts a fee of £350 per report under normal circumstances. Under unusual circumstances consultation will be made to agree a new fee.

Allocation of time to attend Court attracts a booking fee of £50 which is deducted from the fee for attendance should a court appearance be required. Attendance at Court, whether evidence is given or not, attracts a fee of £1200 a day. Cancellation within 2 days (48 hours) of the time set to appear in court attracts a half day cancellation fee. Travel time is charged at the same rate. Travel and out of pocket expenses will be charged extra.

Payment of all fees will be made within 3 months of receipt of the report or fee statement unless there is an alternative agreement made and agreed by both parties.

Failure of the client to attend an appointment or cancellation within 48 hours will attract the hourly rate.
